Happy Farmer x Peelz Review

First things first… to everyone who read, liked, shared, and/or reached out about my last post, thank you 🙏. It was something that I needed to get out, and hopefully it reached someone who needed to read it.

Second, the opinions here are mine and mine alone. Neither The Happy Farmer nor Peelz Fruit Wraps has paid for any reviews or promotion.

Now that that’s out of the way, I’m gonna rip a nice dab of some J1 Wet Diamonds and get into it.

Ok, now that I’ve coughed a lung up, let’s get into it. The Happy Farmer… what can I say? They know how to grow some quality flower. I picked up five different strains, and I enjoyed them all, each for its own reason. But you know that’s not where we start… let’s take a look at the branding and packaging first.

Logo

The Happy Farmer logo is simple. It does its job, but it feels rushed. There doesn’t seem to be much thought or identity behind it. The choice of green and yellow is solid, especially for a Jersey brand. I see those two colors, and I automatically think GSP. And what’s more Jersey than the Parkway, right?

My issue is really just the lack of identity. As someone who has led teams building cannabis brands from the ground up, I’d personally love to talk to them about a refresh. There’s a TON of potential here to really build a brand and identity.

Packaging

This is where things start to improve. While quality-wise (more on that shortly), this flower could have easily been put into a glass jar, they chose to keep it simple, which, in this case, works extremely well. The matte black bag and soft-touch finish are one of my favorite packaging combinations. Clean, simple, but with a touch of elegance when you feel it.

Then, the addition of the custom-branded plastic tray to help protect the buds in the bag is a great touch. It gives it a kind of artisanal, farmers market vibe. But it also feels kind of “trappy,” for lack of a better term, because of the logo.

I also noticed that one or two of the bags seemed to have a lightly printed logo pattern in the background. I thought the solid one looked much better.

Flower

This is where Happy Farmer really showed what they were made of. I can be a “weed snob” at times, so when I grabbed five strains from a brand I hadn’t tried before, I was a little worried I might wind up with 2.5–3 grams of a strain or two that I wasn’t crazy about. I would buy any of them again without hesitation. The five strains and my opinions of them are below.

G-Spot: (Jealousy x The Wulf)

Dense but fluffy buds with a skunky, citrus nose that has some gas to bring it all together. These buds break up extremely well. The smoke brought back some positive high school memories. A citrusy, piney flavor that burns slow and clean. All white ash all the way through. A relaxing high that slowly melted me into the couch. This one is proof that it’s not all about high THC levels. 4.5 out of 5 joints.

Lemon Cherry Fritter: (Lemon Cherry Gelato x Apple Fritter)

Dense nugs with a sweet and earthy nose that break up well. A very smooth and mellow smoke with a really clean burn. The color and frost on these nugs really stand out. I noticed fruit notes on both the inhale and exhale, with the citrus more prominent on the inhale and sweet cherry notes on the exhale. A nice, relaxed but not sleepy high that let me get some writing done. 4 out of 5 joints.

Blueberry Chem: (Chemdawg x Blueberry)

Dense but light buds with a gassy, sweet nose. This broke up much better than expected. I loved the smoke. The sweet inhale and gassy/sour exhale were lovely. It has one of those lightly tart flavors that makes the back of my jaw tingle and my mouth start to water. 4.5 out of 5.

I also picked up Gunpowder Milkshake and On-Point, which were both absolute fire. I’ll do a detailed review of those as well, but for length’s sake, I’ll just say this… TRY THEM!

Now let’s talk blunts. If you know me, you know that I, at one point in time, only smoked blunts. A few years ago, I started transitioning to papers, which I now use about 95% of the time. There were a few reasons for the transition, but it was mostly to get away from the tobacco. The blunts were great, but after years of smoking them daily, my chest was starting to feel it.

Fast forward to about a week and a half ago, and I stumbled upon a post talking about all-natural blunt wraps made from fruit. No tobacco, no nicotine, just all-natural fruit. This piqued my interest. I reached out asking where I could find them in Jersey. Turns out, I can’t. They haven’t hit here yet, but they were willing to send some my way to try. Bet!

So about a week later, they show up right before MDW. I got blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry. They also make a mango wrap, but they didn’t have any at the time they sent them to me. This was perfect. I had just picked up some gas (see reviews above) and could really sit with them and smoke a few different strains.

They look and feel like a regular wrap, so I was unsure at first, but I was very quickly put at ease. These things are awesome. Flavor √, smoothness √, even burning √. They hit all the marks that I personally look for in a blunt, and they’re easy to roll. The flavor is there, but it doesn’t interfere with your greens. The natural terpenes in the fruit add to the entourage effect and provided a nice little boost to some of the strains.

I’m not sure I can pick one flavor as a favorite because they were all really good. If I had to pick one, I’d probably lean toward the strawberry only because it was a little thinner than the other two, and it just so happened to pair really well with the strain I initially smoked with it.

Each pack comes with three wraps, and I’ve already gone through all nine. The only papers I rolled since getting them were to compare the burn and see if I was right about the additional terpenes (I was).

I will say, I think these may have gotten me back into blunts. And even though you can’t grab them at your dispensary or local smoke shop in Jersey yet, you can order them directly from their website. So if you smoke blunts, go there and try them.
